My New Outlook
I've come to the realization that I write a lot about what I have going on currently in the landscaping department. And I must say, I have't given enough effort into what we have to work with. Part of it might be the long, long winters that keep me from putting enough of my attention on our outdoor situation, because when blanketed by cold and snow, it's very easy to overlook. So now with the snow melting, the sun warming, and our spring vacation canceled, I have more time than ever to see what we have going on, what work we can put into it, and what can be changed or upgraded.
Once the weather started to warm, the first thing we wanted to do was get outside and get trees trimmed, and start raking up the messes of the fall and winter. Once we started realizing how nice it is to be putting real energy into the yard, and how good it felt, not to mention how nice it looks afterwards, but how good it feels on your body, to be using muscles and strength and really work up a sweat. It was so rewarding in so many ways, and that was just trimming some branches and raking up the mess. So just think about how good it's going to get when we actually get to put the man power AND the extra funds into the projects we want to complete this year. Don't get me wrong, there is still plenty of raking, trimming and burning to be done, so we aren't in a huge hurry to start putting a ton of money into anything yet. But it's exciting to know how much potential and possibility which is maybe the best part about my new outlook. I can't wait to start really looking into options and getting some real inspiration for what we can get into our landscape dreams.
So let's just take a second to think about the front of the house. We currently have just a simple broom-finished concrete driveway. It's pretty big and takes up most of the front yard. But we still can do some things that could make a nicer, cleaner look than what is currently going on out there. And to start in front of the porch, it is empty, boring and lame. But I can't get over the fact that my one crazy dog will not care if I plant any pretty flowers, and will just trample over them and it won't be worth it. So I will be on the lookout for ideas that include strong and sturdy plants, along with being fresh new ideas that stand out and just look neat. Because that's the kinda lady I am. I will update with pics and things that I've come up with to start a small front project that could really help the whole look of our home.
